Vitamins
Organic micronutrients required in small amounts for normal metabolic function.
Water-soluble
B-vitamins and vitamin C are not stored in large amounts and should feature regularly in the diet.
Fat-soluble
Vitamins A, D, E, and K are absorbed with dietary fat and stored in body tissues. Excess intake from supplements can accumulate.
Deficiency and excess
Both extremes cause problems. Diverse whole-food diets cover most requirements; supplementation is best guided by clinical assessment.
